Dear all,
I cannot believe that we are at the end of the school year; it seems to have gone so quickly!
The last week of term is always filled with a tinge of sadness as we say goodbye to those children that are transitioning into school. This year we have thirty-five children leaving us, thirty-one to Greystones Primary, two to Ecclesall Infants, one to Bethany School and one to Nethergreen Infants, we will miss them all.
Those of you whose children are leaving us to go to school should have or will be receiving a transition document for you to read and complete. Please can you return the forms to preschool by Friday 21st July so that we can pass these onto the relevant schools.
Following the cancellation of the sports day yesterday due to inclement weather, we will be incorporating many of the activities into our planning this week. However, the weather forecast is not great for the week ahead, so we will endeavour to complete these activities inside if it is too wet to be outside. What a difference 12 months makes, when I was looking back to this time last year I was writing to parents about the extreme heat and not the rain. We will also be playing party games and eating party food at snack time as well as dancing with Liz and playing football with coach Jamie.
On Thursday (weather permitting) we will be holding a cake sale after school. We are looking for donations of homemade or shop bought cakes to sell as well as volunteers to run the stall. All monies raised will go to improving our outside area.
A few parents have been in touch to ask if the preschool will be open this Friday (21st July) as Greystones Primary have an inset day. Unfortunately, early years settings do not receive funding for inset days and therefore we will be open as usual.
Finally, just a reminder that we will be holding our leavers party this Tuesday evening at St Gabriel’s church hall, Dobbin Hill from 5.00 pm – 7.00 pm. Parents can return to the hall from 6.45 pm to watch the children receive their end of year certificates.
